1996 - Present

1996 - Present

First held on January 28, 1996, it has been staged continuously and currently has more than 30 editions. The event was created under the name Isla de la Cartuja Half Marathon with the idea of expanding the popular running calendar with a longer distance than road races and serving as a bridge towards the Seville Marathon. We quote the words of the promoters during the first press conference as a statement of intent that still remains valid today: “we intend for it to become a race for Seville“

In 2016 it was renamed the Seville Half Marathon, changing part of its route through the Cartuja area and Alamillo Park to run through the heart of the city. Over the years it has gained prestige and quality. Today it has become a highly popular event, included in the RFEA national calendar and with more than 20,000 participants. It is a fixed date on the calendar for many national and international runners.

Its organization requires a large-scale project developed throughout the year with institutional and corporate support, and it would not be possible without the more than four hundred volunteers who dedicate their free time and enthusiasm to ensure everything runs smoothly.
