From the organization of the SEVILLE HALF MARATHON we incorporate “sustainability” as one of the main factors in the execution of the half marathon. This mass-participation race entails a high environmental impact and represents a commitment to establish a balance between human beings and natural resources, aiming in the medium and long term to achieve a sports event with zero carbon footprint.
Our dedication and commitment grow every year by linking and adapting all our services to the development of sustainability.
Measures adopted to contribute to environmental sustainability.
• We offer free public transport to our participants on race day in order to reduce carbon emissions.
• Waste management, we develop a plan to manage waste collection, supplying containers at different points of the half marathon, in common access areas, and we also have a cleaning team responsible for checking and emptying them as needed and collecting waste and debris from the area. Collaborating and facilitating the work for the city cleaning services that cooperate and participate in maintaining the cleanliness of the city.
• Elimination of plastic bags; We use other formats for the runner’s bag such as reusable bags, GYMSACKS or other ecological containers that help reduce environmental impact.
• We provide the option of online registration to avoid as much as possible the use of natural resources.
• We calculate the carbon footprint in order to assess and communicate the impact of the activity on climate change.
